Who am I
Who I am? Filipe Freire Gonçalves.

I was born and raised in France. However, it was the city of Porto that welcomed me for my higher education and for the beginning of my professional career as an engineer. It was in this magnificent city that I built my life, and I graduated in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (F.E.U.P.) in 1989.

After joining J.E.E.P. (Young High Potential Engineers), I worked in technical engineering positions in Portuguese companies for 18 years. I was responsible for technical projects, leading teams of various types.

I have always maintained a strong connection to nature and sport, and my attitude towards life is guided by optimism. Work, study, intuition, persistence and humility are the pillars that support my career.

For many years I lived with low back pain that resisted the monitoring of several health professionals. This circumstance led me, in 2006, to a deep investigation into the human body, initially with the aim of mitigating my pain.

It was then that I ventured to attend a night massage course, followed by another on "Osteopathic Techniques". During this course, the professor alerted me to my natural aptitude for osteopathy, motivating me to pursue this area.

Inspired by this challenge, in 2011, I graduated in osteopathy and in 2012 a postgraduate degree in classical osteopathy in the UK (Maidstone).

This path of studies confronted me with the need to drastically change my career. Pondering between the comfort of engineering and the fascination with osteopathy, I decided, in 2008, to follow my intuition and take a leap of courage to dedicate myself fully to the "engineering of the human body".

Today, after more than 30,000 consultations carried out in Portugal, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Switzerland, I am still amazed every day by the transformative power of Osteopathy.

Since 2018, I have also contributed to the training of future osteopaths, serving acting as a clinical internship tutor in various several higher education programs courses in Osteopathy in Portugal, as well as participating as a trainer and speaker at specialized events.

My work also extends to business consulting, where I help enhance organizational happiness and well-being. In this role, I conduct ergonomics and biophilia assessments of work environments, provide training, and  conduct employee health check-ups.

Throughout this journey, I have learned that curiosity, continuous learning, and resilience can transform obstacles into opportunities, and pain into motivation to help others.

The mission I embrace every day is to use Osteopathy to restore and maintain the health of as many people as possible, inspiring them to listen to and respect their bodies in all aspects.

To achieve this, I always keep the following values in mind:

- Continuously improving my practice
- Acting with integrity
- Being innovative and creative
- Cultivating passion for my work
- Exceeding patients expectations with simplicity
- Remaining humble
- Finding joy in what I do
- Creating a positive impact on the world
